Dr. Ms. M. B. Madlani

Areas of Specilisation: Rural Development, Business Policy & Administration, Financial Account, Audit & Industrial Psychology

Dr. M.B. Madlani is the Principal of L.S.Raheja College of Arts and Commerce from 2005. She was the Vice Principal, Jaihind College from 2004-05.


Her areas of interest for research include Rural Development. Her research includes Marketing of Agricultural Products- With special reference to Tea & Coffee in the city of Bombay. She is a recognised Ph.D guide in the area of Trade, Transport of Industry, University of Mumbai.


Ms. Madlani has participated and presented papers on various seminars and conferences at the state, national and international level. She has visited various universities in Belgium, Finland, Spain, London, etc. She was invited by Sheriff of Mumbai Dr. Indu Shahani to be part of delegation to visit Universities in Australia and New Zealand. Her speaking engagements cover topics like Emerging Trends in Research in Commerce & Management, Ethics & Professional Values in Business & Industry in India, World Trade, Commerce, Industry & India's Busines Environment Concerns in the neew Millennium, Issues and Challenges, Strategic Management & Financial Reforms in the next Millenium, Challenges & Opportunities, Communication Convergence: The Change Agent.

Shobhna Vora

Associate Professor

Areas of Specialization: Management Practices, Strategic Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Cross Cultural Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Shobhna Vora is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Management and Commerce. She heads the Department of Business Management and was a member of the Board of Studies- Business Management, University of Mumbai. She was Media Executive in charge of Television and Radio Advertising with Lintas India.

Her research interests are in the areas of Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her Research work includes Marketing Strategies Adopted by the Advertisers of TV and Washing Machine, Effective Layout and Market Potentials for Packaged Peanuts. She guides Graduate and Post graduate students for Project Work in the areas of Marketing, Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mrs. Vora has participated and presented papers in a number of seminars and conferences at the state, national and international levels. Her speaking engagements cover topics like Marketing Management, Cross Cultural Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Human Resource Management.

She has been an active participant with International Youth Hostel Federation and Alliance Internationale De Tourisme.Her other interests include Traveling and Photography. She has been a resource person for various topics on Backpack Traveling in India and overseas.

Mrs  Anupama  Nerurkar
M.Com. ICWA (Inter)
Teaching experience in L.S.Raheja College -25 years
Presently pursuing Ph.D.in “A study of work culture in police stations of Maharashtra state with special reference to Mumbai Metro Region”, under SNDT University, Mumbai.
Mrs . Anupama Nerurkar is an associate professor in commerce, presently teaching commerce subjects at FY B.Com., TY B.Com., TY B.A. & M.Com level. Her areas of special interest are Foreign Trade and Human Resource Management.
She has presented various research papers at national & international seminars on the topics like Medical Tourism, Corruption in India, Green Marketing, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Regional Trade Agreements etc. She along with Mrs .Rohini Kelkar has successfully completed minor research in “A case study in Medical Tourism in India with special reference to super specialty hospitals in Mumbai. She is at present a secretary of Mumbai Commerce Association working for the academic interest of commerce faculty. She was a resource person for the syllabus revision of Advertising and Export Marketing.
Besides committee member & chairperson of academic committees at college & university level, she has worked as professor in charge of Marathi Vangmay Mandal for last 25 years .Her special interest include Marathi Literature, Trekking, poetry, cooking etc

Activities of the Department:

The Commerce Association was formed in the year 2008 - 2009. An Industrial visit to Parle Biscuit factory was organised to give students an insight into production methods, controlling etc. An essay competition, an Elocution Competition and Advertising Mania were held to encourage students to be aware of current business practices of environment. During 2009 - 2010, the association organised essay Competition comprising topics like global recession, slow growth of Indian industries (causes and effects), importance of service sector, significance of CRM and Budget 2009 - 2010. The Elocution Competition had the recent topics like ‘India a Global Economy’, ‘Multinationals in India’, ‘My Favourite Businessman’, E - Commerce, Work Culture in Call Centres (BPO’s).

The winners of Essay Competition were:

1. Daksha L. Baradiya - F.Y.B.Com.

2. Farha Sayyed - S.Y.B.Com.

3. Vikki Nolakha - F.Y.B.Com.

The winners of Elocution Competition were:

1. Shabnam Ansari - S.Y.B.Com.

2. Amruta Bhunia - S.Y.B.A.

3. Mayur Patil - F.Y.B.Com.

The Department arranges essay and elocution competition related with latest Commerce and Management topics. To encourage the creative talent of the students, the program “Ad-Mania” is organized.
PPT presentations are encouraged at classroom level for the subjects like Entrepreneurship, Company Profile, service Industry. Business Management students are involved in Book and Movie reviews related to contemporary issues in management.
Department of Commerce successfully organized one day International Seminar on “Frauds in the Corporate Arena”.
