NISARG  is  the  nature  club  of  our  college  since  2002 founded  by  Mrs.  Akshata  A. Kulkarni to  make  students  aware  about  the  environmental  problems  and  as  well  as  to  llove  our  environment. So  various  activities  like  Nature  trails, visits  ,workshops ,symposia, lectures, slide shows, elocutions, film shows are organized. The membership  is restricted  to 50 members only.,who come first to enroll. We are likely to increase the membership number in the academic year 2011-2012.

2009 - 2010 was very unique for ‘NISARG’, where without any formal inauguration & college activities, the total of 25 members truly got involved in various community activities.

Out of 25 members of, 15 were the volunteers  of the N.S.S. So they participated in both N.S.S. & NISARG.

Directly or indirectly, all the projects focussed on environment and enrichment through the main issues of global warming.

On 10th October, 2009, Mrs. Akshata Kulkarni attended a workshop at Kalina, jointly organised by Centre for Development Education - Pune, and Climate Challenge Network, U. K. based on the guidelines given by this (ICC Group)

International Climate Challenge Programme: Mrs. Kulkarni conducted the workshop entitled ‘1000 voices for Copenhagen’ on 4th November, 2009 in Gurukul with 25 members & submitted the feedback to Pune.

The students were thrilled to see the selected 10 views, cartoons, sketches, poems on the ICC website and Facebook along with their photographs.

Akshay Jain, F.Y.B.Com. ‘C’ whose photograph was selected, was overwhelmed with emotions by this international publicity received by him. He came and remarked “ Madam aapne to mujhe bahut famous bana diya  ” Mayur Patil’s Cartoon was appreciated by all.

On 14th November, 2009, Mrs. Akshata Kulkarni presented her views on climate change in the workshop jointly organised by Triratna Prerana Mandal, Santacruz (E), and United Nations University of Tokyo, Japan.

In the N.S.S. Camp, the nature club members like Neha, Bhavik, Divya, Komal, Shweta, Sohni, Roma, Hemlata, Chaitali, Tridalin, Shabnam, Manisha, Shubhangi did a photo project on their  visit to Rubber Research Institute of India at Dapchery near Dahanu. They also visited Asia’s most deserved Eco-friendly Dahanu Thermal Power project. On the way back they saw the small Vanarai Bandhara constructed on the river near Kaupineshwar Shiv Mandir and they also enjoyed the boating experience in the Dhakati Dahanu creek.

We could start the “Agnihotra” project for clearing the Environment at the Varanasi Kalyan Kendra (VKK) Talasari. Mrs. Chitranjana Rangnetkar of ISVS gave the demonstration lecture of ISVS.

On 18th Dec. 2009 four members of FYBA namely Nargis Shaikh, Ravi, Ranjeet & Sangram attended a two day workshop organized by ISVS at Ravindra Natya Mandir where they interacted with Bharat Ratna winner Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and were very impressed by him.

On 26th & 27th Jan 2010, the two members namely Sohni Vishwakarma of T.Y.B.COM. & Bhavik Parikh of S.Y.B.COM. attended a two day International Seminar on “Climate Change” at Hotel Sahyadri in Pune. The booklet on participation for Copenhagen was released with the name of our college printed in the booklet. The Chief Director of ICC Mr. John Davidson from London addressed our students, which was an exciting experience for them.

On 20th Feb - 2010, five members namely Pooja, Madhuri, Mayur Patil, ravi & Rajesh attended a seminar organized by Triratna Prerana Mandal on the topic “Water Management due to changes in Urbanisation of Mumbai- Needs, Challenges, Appeal”.
Best Nature Lover award winner of the year was bagged by Mayur Patil of F.Y.B.COM. - B.

    
This year the inauguration was done on 23 July 2010 when the head priest of ISKCON temple Mr. Rama  Rupa Das  delivered a spiritual lecture on the topic ,Aim of life.” The Oath was given to all members by Mrs. Akshata  Kulkarni.Special “I Cards “designed by Mayur Patil were also distributed to all the members.
    
On 22nd September  total 36 members actively participated in the JUHU CLEAN UP DRIVE with an N.G.O. United Way Of  INDIA.
      
The RAINBOW WEEK was observed on the 7 Days of SAAVAN with 4 Unique Fasts  namely  1. T.V. FAST  means No Watching T.V. ON that Day.

2. Vehicle  FAST-NO Use  of Petrol Driven  Vehicle.

3.Mobile Fast-No use  of Mobile on that DAY.

4.Electicity Fast –Use of ELECTRICITY  to the Minimum.
     
     Total 16 Members received the Certificates of Participation for the successful completion of the Project “CARE” by  TERI i.e. (THE  ENERGY RESOURCES INSTITUTE.)
      On 5th October Mrs. Akshata Kulkarni conducted a Workshop on the topic,” THE art of Writing the Answersheet” where total 96 students benefited.
      Vaishali Sharma received 2nd Prize in the category,”Being Domestic” in the I NTER-COLLEGIATE festival “NATURE FIESTA,”organized by K.C.College on 16th December2010.
     It was a great honour for the members of NISARG TO MEET Mr. Harold Croto, a NOBLE PRIZE Winner in Chemistry on 8th JAN.2011, at Triratna Prerana Mandal, Santacruz.
     Aslide SHOW was  organized on the topic,”Mindblowing Manasarovar”on20.1.1011by Mrs. Shobhana Vora.
      Annual Prize Distribution with Tilgul Distribution was done on31.1.2011.in GURUKUL.
      The Best Nature Lovers were 1.Mayur  M.Patil.
