Introduction
The Malti Jayant Dalal Library continues to be an essential component of the institutes’
outstanding research and education mission. The combination of carefully selected
traditional and digital resources provides Library users with a library that
is worthy of this world class institution. The interest exhibited by the Library
Committee, commitment of talented library staff and the support of our management
made the library a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable
and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, promotes
discovery and facilitates scholarship.
Mission

Rules and Regulations:
1. Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the library
2. Bags, Big hand bags and files are strictly prohibited inside
the open access area of the library
3. The readers are requested to keep their belongings at the entrance
of the library counter.
4. Users of the library material are requested to examine the
material issued to them and report any
damage found therein. If they fail to do so, they will be held responsible for any
damage found or
detected later.
5. After due date of issued material a fine of Rs. 1/- will be
charged on daily basis.
6. If the due date falls on a holiday for the library, the next
working day will be taken as the due
date.
7. Books will be issued to the students only after surrendering
the students borrower tickets.
8. If any book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person responsible
shall replace it with a
new copy or pay the cost of the book.
9. Books will be issued subject to availability
10. Any kind of marking, underlying, clipping of books is absolutely
for bidden. Readers shall
be held responsible for any damage done to the book belonging to the library and
shall be
required to replace such book or pay the value thereof.
11. Absence from the college will not be allowed as an excuse
for the delay in the return of books.
12. Under special circumstances, the librarian may refuse the
issue of books or recall the books
already issued from any member without assigning any reason thereof.
13. A fine of Rs. 10/- will be charged for each ticket that is
lost.
14. The borrower will be responsible for any loss or non-return
of any book issued against his/her
original or duplicate library borrowers ticket.
15. Reference books, and Newspapers should not be taken
out.
16. Use of Mobile Phones, smoking or eating are not allowed in
the library.
17. Disregard of library rules, indiscipline and misbehavior will
render students liable to
be refused to access the library.
Library Collection
Our collection comprising of books, journals and non-book material in Economics,
Commerce, Management, Computer Science, History, Sociology, Psychology, Mass Media
Mathematics, Statistics, Banking, Insurance, Accountancy, Finance, Literature
& Art .
The collection is heavily used not only by our own students and faculty but by Alumina
students and staffs and others who walk-in to use our library in large numbers.
E-Resources:
- The library has subscribed 26 e-Journals ICFAI University Press
- The library has also subscribed for INFLIBNET N-LIST which provides access to
2154 Full-text e-Journals and 51746 e-Books.
Best Practices:
In this information age the Library plays not just an important learning support
function, but the library itself is emerging as a site of learning, sometimes more
important than even the class-room.
In today’s high-tech learning environment, the library, as a learning resource centre
is taking up increasingly more academic space and time in the life of learner. Best
Practice as a means for continuous learning through sustainable innovations is familiar
in higher education including library.
Best Practices followed by the Malti Jayant Dalal Library
•
User Orientation: Library conducts User Orientation program
every year in the month of June to acquaint the new students in understanding
the services the library provides them. To enable the students to exploit the information
resources available in the library to supplement their learning process to support
class room teaching.

In service Program: For motivating staff to enhance their
skill and expertise in conventional and e-library associated services and operations,
Library conducts In-service program in the month of November every year.

Inter Library Connection: Library is a member of the British
Council Library since 2000. online library catalogue can be checked with the website
www.britishcouncil.org. Library has also membership of American Library.
•
Book Bank Scheme: The College library
has got a UGC grant of Rs. 90000/- under the Five Year Plan for library
books. The library has started the book bank scheme for the poor and needy
students statistics for same is as below:

Gyanyatra (Book Exhibition-cum-sale): Gyanyatra (A book exhibition ) was organized on 11th September and 12th
September 2009. The main purpose was to make teachers and students aware of the
latest development in their respective subjects and
to promote focused reading. This apart, suggestion
from students were also encouraged and accepted.

Internet services: Network Resource centre with 2 PCs and 1
Printer is being set up in the Malti Jayant Dalal Library on the ground floor
for Staff . And for students 5 computers with internet facility are provided free
of charge.
•
External Membership: Malti Jayant Library has started External
Membership for Alumina students. As a consequence, to be able to generate financial
resources and thereby supplement the monies received by the library so as to provide
additional user services.
•
Preparatory course for students’ projects: For developing awareness
of library resources and their usage in relation to preparation of assignments,
projects etc. library is preparing bibliographic services for the projects assigned
to the students. which is available for students on computers in the library.

User feedback practice through different formats: User feedback
is collected on all aspects of library services formally through suggestion box
and feedback forms. Necessary action is then initiated and users are kept informed.
•
Digitization of Question Papers and Library circulars: The library has digitized Question Papers from October 2005 and Library Circulars
for various departments from 2000 for speedy and easy access through intranet services,
which is available for access on computers of library through intranet services.
•
Open Access System: From academic year 2009-10 Library has
started Open Access system. Open Access system helps the library to make students
aware of available resources, optimum utilization of resources and for inculcating
reading habits.
•
WEB OPAC: From academic year 2010-11 Library has started WEB OPAC
service. The library has put the library catalog ont the web, so the users can
search the required information by connecting to Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
of Web-OPAC anytime during the day and from anywhere in the world. This
Web-OPAC's not only offer simplified access to library holdings for end users
but also enble - libraries to add value to their catalogue data.
