  • Shobhna Vora is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Management and Commerce. She heads the Department of Business Management and was a member of the Board of Studies- Business Management, University of Mumbai. She was Media Executive in charge of Television and Radio Advertising with Lintas India.
  • Her research interests are in the areas of Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her Research work includes Marketing Strategies Adopted by the Advertisers of TV and Washing Machine, Effective Layout and Market Potentials for Packaged Peanuts. She guides Graduate and Post graduate students for Project Work in the areas of Marketing, Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Mrs. Vora has participated and presented papers in a number of seminars and conferences at the state, national and international levels. Her speaking engagements cover topics like Marketing Management, Cross Cultural Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Human Resource Management.
  • She has been an active participant with International Youth Hostel Federation and Alliance Internationale De Tourisme. Her other interests include Traveling and Photography. She has been a resource person for various topics on Backpack Traveling in India and overseas.

Dr. Anupama Narayan Nerurkar



Dr. Anupama Narayan Nerurkar : (Associate professor and HOD, Department of commerce)
Qualifications : M. Com., Ph.D.
Experience :  27 years at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Areas of Specialization :
Human Resource Management and International Marketing.
Hobbies : Reading, painting and poetry writing.
Working in this college as a lecturer from 1986. Subjects taught includes Marketing and HRM, Export Management, International marketing, Business environment, Entrepreneurship management Introduction to Commerce and service sector. Has successfully completed her Research (Ph.D.) in “A Study of work culture in police stations of Maharashtra state with special reference to Mumbai Metro Region.” Is a research guide in commerce for M.Phil at Hinduja Research Center. Has attended number of workshops and seminars at national and international level in commerce faculty and presented papers on the respective subjects. Is a member of Indian Commerce Association and Maharashtra Vanijya Parishad. In the academic year 2013-2014, attended ICSSR sponsored Interdisciplinary national seminar on Financial Inclusion; Step towards Inclusive growth organised by Maharshi Dayanand College of Arts, Science and Commerce and presented paper “A study of effectiveness of financial policies of Indian government to bring inclusive growth”. Has attended international conference organized by Department of commerce, University of Mumbai and presented paper on “Online Marketing –An innovative marketing tool and challenges in future.” And presented a paper on A study of leadership in police officers in Mumbai city to bring effective reforms At Nagindas Khandwala college.

Activities of the Department : The Commerce Association was formed in the year 2008 - 2009. An Industrial visit to Parle Biscuit factory was organised to give students an insight into production methods, controlling etc. An essay competition, an Elocution Competition and Advertising Mania were held to encourage students to be aware of current business practices of environment. During 2009 - 2010, the association organised essay Competition comprising topics like global recession, slow growth of Indian industries (causes and effects), importance of service sector, significance of CRM and Budget 2009 - 2010. The Elocution Competition had the recent topics like ‘India a Global Economy’, ‘Multinationals in India’, ‘My Favourite Businessman’, E - Commerce, Work Culture in Call Centres (BPO’s).

The Department arranges essay and elocution competition related with latest Commerce and Management topics. To encourage the creative talent of the students, the program “Ad-Mania” is organized. PPT presentations are encouraged at classroom level for the subjects like Entrepreneurship, Company Profile, service Industry. Business Management students are involved in Book and Movie reviews related to contemporary issues in management. Department of Commerce successfully organized one day International Seminar on “Frauds in the Corporate Arena”.
